Who we are

The La Union Index is a gamified local discovery platform for San Juan, La Union, Philippines. We help explorers discover local businesses through a check-in and reward system. This platform is operated by Gabriel Montemayor.

What we collect

We collect the following information when you register:

• Your email address
• Your chosen username
• Your check-in history and XP
• Your approximate location when you check in at a business (used only to verify proximity)

Why we collect it

• Your email is used to send your one-time login code. We do not send marketing emails.
• Your username is displayed on the public leaderboard.
• Your location is checked only at the moment of check-in to confirm you are physically at the business. We do not store or track your location beyond that check.
• Your check-in history powers your Adventure Log and leaderboard ranking.

Who can see your data

• Your username and XP are visible to all users on the public leaderboard.
• Your email is never shared publicly or sold to third parties.
• Only the platform administrator can see your email address for the purpose of sending weekly rewards.

Data storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database provider based in Singapore. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We comply with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173).

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you want your data deleted, email us and we will remove it within 7 days.

Your rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent at any time

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.
